9 ways to enhance your curb appeal

Just as every mother believes her son is a handsome devil, we homeowners tend to see the best in our houses. But not all houses can be Brad Pitts. Here are a few simple tips to enhance your curb appeal.

Replace the garage doors: One of the most prominent facial  features of many houses is a pair of big garage doors.

Removing siding or updating your stucco: Sometimes ugliness is only skin-deep. Give your house an update with paint or remove siding and add aesthetics with stucco.

Lose the funky railings: Swap out bad porch or stoop railings such as black iron bars and chunky components for visually interesting banisters and spindles that are worthy of their prominent placement at the front of the house.

Install a new front door: This will add character and add a key element to a focal point of your home.

Enhance the roof: A straight unadorned roofline makes a house look about as interesting as a shipping container. Adding window dormers or extending the eaves.

Replace light fixtures and hardware: Pretty self explanatory

Last but not least add plants and flowers: Color and trimmed shrubbery will enhance the curb appeal of any home and is one of the least expensive ways to enhance your homes curb appeal.

These tips still might not make your home a Brad Pitt, but it might take it from a Igor to a  Shia LaBeouf

Great post Heather! Thanks for the words of wisdom. Curb appeal is so very important. I hope we can get the general public to understand the importance.

Isn't it funny how in many northern communities, vinyl siding is considered an upgrade and in Florida people wonder what horrible thing is hiding underneath it?
