Is it true Orange County & Seminole County down payment assistance programs like SHIP might be going away forever? I received and email today with the grave news that the housing funds from the state are on the chopping block. The senate is cuting over $123 million dollars from the budget and with those cuts would simply eliminate down payment assistance programs like SHIP.
If you want to see these programs stay around write your senate and congress.

That is crazy..I am shocked...that they are cutting county downpayment assistance..People really need this program sometimes...
I haven't heard this. I know they typically run out of money by about January of ever year and then we wait again until October for people to re-apply.
Rob - I realize that Seminole county is normally that way, but this October if the senate gets their way SHIP is done they will not get any funding meaning no more DPA. So if people want DPA from the City of Orlando or Orange county they need to move now or there might not be a tomorrow.
Good idea to have the consumers contact their Senator. Good post.
We had a bond program here in Oregon that sounds similar to your program and ours actually ran out of money!
